REMINDER NO CLASS TODAY, 8 MARCH. WORK ON YOUR PROPOSALS. WE WILL WORK ON OMEKA WHEN WE RETURN FROM SPRING BREAK! I WILL UPDATE THE SCHEDULE TO REFLECT THIS CHANGE SHORTLY
Install the SimplePages plugin and create an about page.
Create metadata. Select two/three primary sources to add to your repository. Fully describe your primary sources using Dublin Core metadata and Item Type metadata. Draft notes for a Blog Entry about your organizational decisions.
Work on your proposal. You should use Google Docs to write your project proposal, which is due by 11:59PM, Friday, 10 March. Should this deadline time be a problem, talk to me during hands-on work in class.
Your project proposal should address three key components:
Your research question: “I am studying ______, because I want to find out who/how/why _______, in order to understand how/why/what ______.” (1 point)
The main primary sources (and subsequent repositories where the sources come from) that you plan to use to complete your project. Please include a brief description of each source or collection of sources so that I have a good idea of what you plan to use as the basis for your historical analysis. Please completely cite all sources and include the website, collection, or archives where each is located. (2 points)
The 4-6 best secondary sources available on your project topic. You should offer a discussion of these sources, their arguments and their importance to informing your analysis going forward. Don’t forget to offer a full bibliographical citation for each source. (2 points)
Feedly….ThingLink…Zotero….hmm? were you in class????
You should use Google Docs to write your project proposal. Once completed, please share it with my gmail address: gretchen.e.burgess at gmail.com. These proposals will be graded and are worth five points.

History is about learning from and one another and collaboration. I owe a great debt to those scholars and educators who taught this course before me. Thank you to Lincoln Mullen, T. Mills Kelly, Sharon Leon, and Sasha Hoffman. I especially owe a large "thank you" to Erin Bush for her tireless investigations and presentations for the Digital Past.
